Sphaerics was founded in 2022 by the husband-and-wife team, Brian Ball and Laura Jones, after many years working at esteemed wineries in California and abroad.  

Sphaerics is dedicated to crafting world-class Chardonnay from sites of distinction in California. Careful vineyard selection, meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to traditional winemaking practices are the pillars of our winemaking philosophy. The results of this process are wines that emanate energy and substance. We seek to produce wines that simultaneously pique one’s intellectual side and provide ultimate pleasure to the senses. 

Brian and Laura met their first day on campus when starting grad school together at UC Davis in August of 2012. They talked about their motivations for pursuing winemaking careers and their hopes and dreams of one day founding a winery of their own. It was an instant connection, a shared ambition. In August of 2022, exactly 10 years after meeting, They were offered incredible access to a legendary vineyard. Fruit so special and limited in quantity it was inaccessible to others. They knew instantly this was their moment, and Sphaerics was born.
